About this hotel
General information
Regina Hotelsuites is a four-star superior hotel at the start of Dorfstrasse, the main street of Sölden in the Ötztal valley. Johann Fiegl opened it in December 1960 with thirty rooms, and the same family has run it ever since. Over six decades the house has grown in stages: Alpine Suites added on a new fifth floor, an underground car park, a dining room with a winter garden, and a lobby and bar redone as a traditional Stube in stone pine with an open fire.
The defining idea is a hotel with the independence of an apartment. Every room and suite has its own kitchenette, so breakfast and dinner can be booked or skipped as guests prefer. Interiors lean on local wood, natural materials and good fabrics, and the AQUA VITALIS spa is close enough to reach in a bathrobe.
Location
The hotel stands in central Sölden, in Tyrol’s Ötztal, 150 m from the base station of the Gaislachkogl gondola. Innsbruck is the nearest airport, with regular buses to Sölden and transfers on request; by rail, the stations are Ötztal Bahnhof and Innsbruck, both linked to Sölden by bus, with the stop a short walk from the hotel.
Spa
AQUA VITALIS covers more than 800 m²: an indoor panoramic pool, a hay-barn sauna (90 °C), a Stube sauna (70 °C), a bio sauna, a brine grotto, a steam bath, a flower-petal bath, an ice fountain, a relaxation room with water beds under a starry ceiling, and a fitness room. Treatments draw on Tyrolean shale oil, moor and Alpine herbs, with massages, seaweed, fango, moor and detox wraps, facials, manicures and pedicures. Children and teenagers have their own massage and facial menu; the saunas are for guests aged 16 and over.
Sports & leisure
An in-house Sport4You shop rents skis and snowboards in winter and bikes, hiking and climbing gear in summer, with free ski storage alongside and lift passes sold at the hotel. Summer brings more than 1,600 km of hiking trails and over 850 km of cycling and mountain-bike routes, with the nine trails of Bike Republic Sölden close by. In winter there is a 7.3 km natural toboggan run from the Gaislachkogl middle station down to the village, as well as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ski touring and skating.
For children
The two-bedroom Family Suite and three-bedroom Alpine Suite are designed with families in mind, and the spa offers gentle massages and facials adapted for children and teenagers.
Restaurants & bars
THE 1960 is the hotel’s à la carte restaurant, cooking with seasonal Ötztal produce and hand-picked herbs, with wines chosen by sommelier Fabian Fiegl from Austrian cellars and established producers worldwide. The same room hosts a breakfast buffet of regional cheeses, bakery bread and homemade jams. The lobby bar pours wines, spirits and cocktails and serves a short afternoon menu of hot and cold dishes, and the kitchen packs lunch boxes for days in the mountains.
Skiing
The Gaislachkogl gondola, 150 m from the door, rises to 3,048 m and the heart of the Sölden ski area: 144 km of pistes, three peaks above 3,000 m and a snow park. The Ötztal Super Skipass extends access to six ski areas across the valley, around 363 km of slopes in all.
