About this hotel
General information
Hotel Central occupies an elegant town house on Gilmstrasse in the centre of Innsbruck, a few minutes from the historic quarter. Rooms are thoughtfully furnished with comfortable pieces and refined details, and their windows frame the old town and the surrounding peaks. The hotel pairs modern comfort and Tyrolean hospitality with an easy walk into the lively heart of the city.
The restaurant serves Austrian and international dishes made with produce from the hotel’s own farm. Café Central, dating back to the nineteenth century, recreates the mood of a classic Viennese coffee house and remains a favourite meeting place for locals. Guests also have a wellness area, three meeting rooms and underground parking, and weddings can be arranged.
Location
The hotel stands on Gilmstrasse in central Innsbruck, next to the historic centre. The railway station is a five-minute walk away and the international airport 5 km.
Spa
The wellness area has a gym, a steam room, a sauna, an infrared cabin and a relaxation zone.
Sports & leisure
Innsbruck is ringed by ski areas, making winter a season for alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding and sledging; the company that owns the hotel also runs the Axamer Lizum and Glungezer ski areas. Walking trails and sightseeing programmes fill the rest of the year.
Restaurants & bars
The hotel restaurant serves a breakfast buffet and Austrian and international dishes made with produce from the hotel’s own farm. Café Central, dating from the nineteenth century, keeps the spirit of a traditional Viennese coffee house — coffee and pastries, a glass of wine, live piano music and, in summer, tables on the terrace.
Skiing
Several ski areas lie 5–30 km from the hotel: Axamer Lizum (1,583–2,338 m) and Glungezer (950–2,304 m), both owned by the hotel’s proprietors, as well as Seegrube-Nordkette (856–2,256 m), Patscherkofel (922–2,247 m), Schlick 2000 (1,000–2,610 m), the Stubai Glacier (1,750–3,210 m), Kühtai (2,020–2,828 m) and Rangger Köpfl (820–2,000 m). A ski-bus stop serving the lifts is right by the hotel.
