Bad Kleinkirchheim

Das Ronacher Therme & Spa Resort

About this hotel

General information

Das Ronacher is a five-star thermal spa hotel in Bad Kleinkirchheim, set among the Nock Mountains of Carinthia. It is run by the Ronacher family, who keep in close touch with their guests, not least at a weekly cocktail hour. The house has 90 rooms and suites, each with its own balcony or terrace.

At its heart is a private 5,500 m² thermal and wellness world with five indoor and outdoor pools, a whole sauna village and a string of quiet retreats. Stays are built around gourmet half board with a six-course dinner. Beyond the spa, a cultural programme fills the calendar — guest performances by stage and screen actors, a March festival of talks, gallery exhibitions — alongside health weeks with physiotherapists and trainers.

Location

The hotel stands on Thermenstraße in Bad Kleinkirchheim, a ski and thermal resort in the Nock Mountains of Carinthia. The Bad Kleinkirchheim ski area and golf course are close at hand; the hotel runs its own shuttle service and has parking and an electric-car charging station.

Spa

The Das Ronacher thermal and wellness world covers 5,500 m². Its sauna village holds a steam bath, an infrared cabin, a fir-scented sweating room, a Finnish stone pine sauna, a brine steam bath and an alpine chalet sauna house, and a private bio-sauna with light and fragrance therapy can be reserved. For stillness there is an amethyst grotto, a forest relaxation retreat, the Silenzio quiet house with rocking Dondolo loungers and the “7th heaven” rest area with floating stone pine beds and extra-wide water beds. Treatment rooms open at 8 am for massages, face and body care, health programmes and personal training, and there is a Spa Suite; the 1001 Nights Panorama SPA can be booked privately. The textile-free area is open to children with their parents until 3 pm and to guests aged 14 and over thereafter.

Sports & leisure

The hotel has a 200 m² PHYSIO-GYM with Plate One medical vibration training and the 5x FITTER concept, and hosts health weeks and sports events with experts in Nordic walking, yoga and more. In summer it leads hikes to the finest spots in the Nock Mountains and lends backpacks, maps, Nordic walking poles and heart-rate monitors; golfers get special terms at the Bad Kleinkirchheim course, and the outdoor tennis courts at the neighbouring Hotel Die Post are free to use. In winter, 60 km of panoramic walking trails wind around the resort. Evenings bring guest performances, exhibitions and a daily events programme.

For children

Families can choose the Family Suite with its separate living room or one of several other room and suite types that take children. Children from age three can join professional childcare for up to 12 hours a day at the sister hotel Die Post. The textile-free sauna area is open to children with their parents until 3 pm.

Restaurants & bars

Dining revolves around gourmet half board, and breakfast runs until noon.

  • Restaurant — six-course dinner with a vegan option and a Thursday gala dinner with aperitif; an imperial breakfast buffet until 12 noon with fresh bakes, fruit and milk bars, pressed juices and dishes made with organic eggs from the region
  • Spa Lounge — an early sweet breakfast with a vitamin bar from 7.30 am
  • Bathrobe Bistro — light dishes and afternoon sweets in bathrobes, until 5 pm
Swimming

Five indoor and outdoor pools are filled with thermal water, among them Austria’s first brine thermal bath. Fruit, tea and juices are served in the thermal area until 11 am.

Skiing

In winter guests ski the Bad Kleinkirchheim area: the hotel’s activity guide leads ski outings, a dedicated cellar stores equipment, and weekly cross-country skiing with equipment is included in the stay.

Pets

Dogs are welcome for a fee (food not included) but are not allowed in the dining room or the thermal and wellness world.
