Alpin Resort Sacher

About this hotel

General information

Alpin Resort Sacher sits at 1,200 m on the Seefeld plateau in Tyrol, surrounded by a private park of 20,000 m². The house has received guests since 1950; long known as the Astoria, it joined the Sacher family in 2022, becoming the group’s highest-lying hotel, and was admitted to The Leading Hotels of the World in 2023.

Interiors follow an Alpin Chic idea: broad glass façades, high ceilings, wood and loden set against discreet modern technology. There are 81 rooms and suites. The resort rests on three pillars — a 4,700 m² spa with a natural swimming lake, the restaurant Der Max with two Gault&Millau toques, and the medically guided Academy For Better Aging longevity programme — and the original Sacher-Torte is, naturally, part of the table.

Location

The hotel lies within walking distance of central Seefeld. The railway station is 1.2 km away, with a complimentary pick-up for arriving guests, and Innsbruck is around 25 minutes by train. Innsbruck Airport is about 25 minutes by car and Munich Airport 165 km, roughly two hours; private transfers from either can be arranged.

Spa

Sacher Alpin Spa covers 4,700 m². The textile area, Alpin Aktiv Spa, holds a Tyrolean Stubensauna, a bio sauna, a brine grotto, a laconium and an infrared cabin, while the clothing-free Spa Chalet (16 and over) has a 42 m² panoramic sauna, a steam bath and regular sauna rituals. Quiet rooms offer daybeds, heated loungers and water beds, and the Private Spa adds its own sauna, steam bath, bathtub, terrace and two treatment couches. Massages and beauty treatments use Augustinus Bader and St Barth products. The Academy For Better Aging builds personal longevity programmes under medical supervision, drawing on modern diagnostics, altitude training, a cryotherapy chamber and BIA measurement.

Sports & leisure

For lengths there is a 20-metre infinity sports pool, and the fitness room is equipped with Life Fitness machines and Pilates Reformers. The schedule covers Full Body Workout and Stretching & Mobility classes, aqua fitness and face yoga, with personal training on request. In summer the hotel leads guided hikes in the mountains around Seefeld and e-bike tours at several levels, to destinations such as Oberbrunn Alm and the Seebensee; winter brings snowshoe walks and torchlit hikes.

For children

Family Suites have separate sleeping and living areas and a second bathroom, and a children’s menu is served in the restaurants. The clothing-free Spa Chalet is reserved for guests aged 16 and over.

Restaurants & bars

Cooking follows the seasons and the region, and the original Sacher-Torte with whipped cream appears as early as breakfast.

  • Der Max — two Gault&Millau toques under chef Boris Meyer; a six-course choice menu with a vegetarian option, a summer terrace and Saturday gala dinners
  • Salon Ferdinand — à la carte lunch
  • Hotel Bar — à la carte dishes through the day, wines and cocktails
  • Pool Bar — light seasonal plates at lunchtime in summer
  • Alpin Spa-Bistro — a self-service tea selection all day

Room service is also available.

Swimming

A 600 m² natural swimming lake with an alpine beach lies in the park. Alongside it are heated panoramic pools running indoors and out, a 20-metre infinity sports pool, a saltwater whirlpool in the natural garden and an outdoor whirlpool at the Spa Chalet.

Skiing

In winter the nearest ski bus stop is about 850 m from the hotel.

Pets

Dogs are welcome for a nightly supplement and are given a cushion, bowls and a towel; a fenced play area lies behind the hotel. They must be on a lead indoors and are not permitted in the restaurants, the garden or the spa.
