About this hotel
General information
The Lyall Hotel is an intimate boutique address of 50 rooms and suites in South Yarra, one of Melbourne’s most prestigious neighbourhoods. The interiors take their cue from Parisian elegance: richly textured fabrics in restful tones, bespoke dark-stained Tasmanian oak furniture with gold accents made by local craftspeople, and plenty of natural light. Small balconettes and terraces are made for a morning coffee or an unhurried look at the street below.
The seven suites, named after the surrounding area, add generous bathing, dressing and living space, deep baths and outlooks over a Japanese maple garden or the treetops. The hotel is listed in the Michelin Guide. Every room is designed for two guests, and a small lobby and a terrace serve as the shared spaces.
Location
The hotel sits on Murphy Street, a quiet side street in South Yarra, six minutes from the boutiques, bookshops, restaurants and wine bars of Toorak Road. The Tan running track and the Royal Botanic Gardens are close by, and tram and train connections to central Melbourne are just around the corner. Valet parking is available.
Sports & leisure
The neighbourhood is best explored on foot or on the hotel’s Lekker bicycles, and The Tan track around the Royal Botanic Gardens is within easy reach for a morning run.
Restaurants & bars
The hotel has its own bar and bistro, and drinks and coffee can also be taken in the intimate lobby or out on the terrace.
