COMO The Treasury

About this hotel

General information

COMO The Treasury occupies the State Buildings, a restored 19th-century government complex on Cathedral Square in the heart of Perth. Architect Kerry Hill shaped its 48 rooms and suites: high ceilings, tall windows, travertine and handcrafted furniture create calm, light-filled spaces where heritage architecture meets restrained contemporary design. Some suites keep the memory of the building’s former occupants — the Cabinet Suite was once the State Cabinet Room, the Heritage Suite the Treasurer’s office.

Wildflower, on the rooftop, looks over the city and the Swan River; within the buildings are the osteria Post and the Cape Arid Rooms for afternoon tea, with a cluster of independent bars and restaurants in the State Buildings alongside. COMO Shambhala has a 20-metre indoor pool, and the gym sits on the roof. The hotel also arranges journeys across Western Australia, from wine country to remote national parks.

Location

On Cathedral Square in central Perth, at the corner of St Georges Terrace and Barrack Street. Elizabeth Quay is a 10-minute walk, Northbridge 15 minutes and Kings Park 20 minutes; Perth Airport is 17 km away, about 20 minutes by car.

Spa

COMO Shambhala draws on Eastern and Western holistic therapies, with three single treatment rooms and one double, a sauna and a 20-metre heated indoor pool. Private yoga and Pilates sessions with expert instructors are also offered.

Sports & leisure

A rooftop gym with Technogym equipment and personal trainers on request; every room has a yoga mat and guided meditation videos. The hotel arranges heritage walks through the old centre, e-bike rides, wine and beer masterclasses, trips to Rottnest Island, Fremantle, the Swan Valley and Margaret River, golf at The Vines, helicopter flights to a winery and longer journeys to Ningaloo Reef, Karijini National Park or Broome.

For children

Families can take the two-bedroom Family Suite, extra beds or cots fit in several room types, and the hotel’s excursions include a visit to Caversham Wildlife Park.

Restaurants & bars

Three hotel venues, plus several independent bars and restaurants in the State Buildings.

  • Wildflower — a rooftop restaurant with city and Swan River views: modern Australian cooking and degustation menus that follow the six Indigenous seasons
  • Post — a contemporary osteria reworking Italian classics with seasonal produce
  • Cape Arid Rooms — the setting for afternoon tea
  • Wine Merchant, Beer Corner, Long Chim and Petition — a wine bar, a beer bar, a Thai restaurant and a produce-led restaurant within the State Buildings
