Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires

About this hotel

General information

Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires brings together two very different buildings in Recoleta. At its heart is La Mansión, a Belle Époque palace completed in 1920 as Félix de Álzaga Unzué’s wedding gift to his bride, Elena Peña. Listed as part of the city’s cultural heritage, the mansion keeps its French oak floors, Italian marble, gilded boiseries and crystal chandeliers. Behind it rises the twelve-storey Tower Building, with bright contemporary rooms and long views over the city.

Beside the mansion lies a landscaped garden with a heated pool. The hotel has 165 rooms, 49 of them suites, with the grandest suites set inside La Mansión. Contemporary art hangs throughout, while the food and drink lean firmly on Argentine tradition: dry-aged beef at Elena, garden asado at Nuestro Secreto and cocktails at Pony Line, a bar styled around polo.

Location

The hotel stands at Posadas 1086/88 in Recoleta, the neighbourhood with some of Buenos Aires’ finest European-style architecture, a few minutes from the business centre. The upper floors of the tower look out over Avenida 9 de Julio and the Obelisk. Ezeiza International Airport is 36 km away, about 40 minutes by car, and Aeroparque Jorge Newbery domestic airport 7 km, around 15 minutes; the concierge arranges transfers.

Spa

Cielo Spa is a quiet city retreat with private treatment rooms, hydrotherapy, a sauna, a steam bath and relaxation rooms looking over the city. The signature Tango Porteño pairs a gentle exfoliation with a hot stone massage choreographed to tango music. Facials use Germaine de Capuccini products, couples can book Time for Two with a warm candle wax massage, and there is a hair and nail salon as well as express treatments.

Sports & leisure

The 700 m² fitness centre is open around the clock to hotel guests and overlooks the garden and the mansion, with personal training and group classes on request. The concierge arranges tango lessons, a polo clinic, horse riding, urban cycling and running tours, a city tour, a ranch day in San Antonio de Areco, a private boat trip through the delta and helicopter flights over Buenos Aires. Food-minded guests can join an Argentine meat and asado lesson, an empanada and dulce de leche pancake cooking class, a wine tasting or a session with the barista.

For children

The Kids For All Seasons programme covers a welcome gift, child-size bathrobes and toiletries, nappies, bottle warmers and pushchairs, plus babysitting and family itineraries around the city. Children under 13 stay free in their parents’ room (space permitting); an extra bed is added for guests aged 13 and over.

Restaurants & bars

The hotel’s restaurants and bar are built around Argentine cooking and a wine list drawn from every corner of the country.

  • Elena — a two-storey steakhouse inspired by the old houses of San Telmo and named after Elena Peña Unzué: dry-aged beef, brasserie dishes, charcuterie and regional wines; breakfast is served here too
  • Nuestro Secreto — asado cooked over open fire in the hotel garden
  • Pony Line — a lively polo-themed lounge bar known for its creative cocktails and burgers

In-room dining runs 24 hours, and early-morning tea and coffee are served in the lobby.

Swimming

There is no beach. The heated outdoor pool sits in the middle of the garden beside La Mansión — the only outdoor pool in Recoleta — and food and drinks are brought to the loungers.

Pets

Dogs and cats weighing under 11 kg are welcome.

Rooms

The 165 rooms and suites are split between two buildings: contemporary rooms with leather headboards and city views in the tower, and high-ceilinged suites with chandeliers, antiques and marble bathrooms in La Mansión.
