About this hotel
General information
Jumby Bay Island is a private island of around 300 acres lying two miles off the north-east coast of Antigua, given over entirely to a single resort managed by Oetker Collection. There are no cars: guests get around by bicycle and golf cart, and only those staying on the island may land. The resort dates from 1983, though the island's past runs far deeper — some five thousand years ago Amerindian craftsmen worked its flint into tools, and later its meadows were grazed by sheep whose breed still roams here today.
Accommodation is spread across 40 sea-view cottages, 12 villas and 22 private estates with their own staff. Stays are fully inclusive, with no bills or signatures: restaurants, bars, watersports, tennis and the kids' club are all part of the experience. The island is known for its conservation work — the world's longest-running hawksbill turtle research project on its nesting beaches, coral reef restoration and a solar programme that covers much of its power needs.
Location
The island sits in the Caribbean Sea two miles off Antigua's north-eastern shore. From V. C. Bird International Airport (ANU) it is about a five-minute drive to the resort's private dock on Antigua, then under seven minutes across the water on the resort's own catamaran — around fifteen minutes in all. The resort arranges transfers with VIP assistance at the airport, and a complimentary ferry runs hourly between the dock and the island.
Spa
The Jumby Bay Spa sits in a garden setting, with five ocean-view treatment rooms, an open-air relaxation lounge and plunge pool overlooking the sea, a steam room and a sauna. Its menu blends modern therapies with West Indian traditions — massages, body treatments and facials using Tata Harper and La Colline — and a Balinese yoga master and massage therapist tailors personal wellness programmes. There is a full-service salon, a 24-hour fitness centre next door and the Wellness Pavilion for sunrise yoga, meditation and sound baths.

Young guests can join the turtle watch to see hawksbills nesting or hatchlings heading to sea. Certified nannies and babysitting, children's parties, the Bloom spa menu for children and teens, cots on request and the family-friendly Veranda pool round out the offer.
Restaurants & bars
Three restaurants and several bars share the island, with themed evenings through the week.
- The Veranda — open-air restaurant at the heart of the island with sea views: breakfast buffet and à la carte, lunch and dinner where Caribbean meets Mediterranean
- The Estate House — fine dining marrying classic dishes and West Indian traditions in a plantation house of around 1830, with three private dining rooms and a wine room
- Sandbar — open-air spot beside the infinity pool for ceviche, tapas and sushi rolls with Caribbean, Mexican and Asian flavours, and one of the island's best sunset views
- 1830 Bar — the bar inside The Estate House
- The Veranda Bar — the bar at the main restaurant
- Genny's Bar & Shack — a thatched beach bar and a shack serving light Latin American and Caribbean dishes, with drinks brought to the loungers
Each week brings a white-dress barbecue on the beach and a West Indian evening at The Veranda, alongside dinners at the island farm, afternoon tea and rum and wine tastings.
Swimming
The main Jumby Bay Beach is a half-mile arc of white sand on calm water, lined with thatched bohios, cushioned loungers and hammocks. On the Atlantic side lies a wild beach with rolling waves, where picnic hampers can be sent ahead. There are three pools: the quiet beachfront Jumby Bay Pool with its infinity edge, the family-friendly Veranda pool set in a tropical garden and suited to laps, and the infinity pool at Sandbar.
Pets
To protect the island's ecosystem and wildlife, pets are not permitted.
